Fun Fact of the Week – April, 17th 2017
Almost all of us have watched a train winding its way alongside I 88 on its way between Binghamton and Albany and thought nothing of it but did you know that there was a pitched battle fought inside the tunnel in the town of Colesville in 1869 that lasted 3 days?
Follow the link below to read about two trains, one heading North from Binghamton and the other South from Albany meeting with and crash in the tunnel the Robber Barron’s who sent them.

What Does the Job Entail and Why is it Important?
Can you imagine McDonalds running out of hamburgers but having thousands of rolls? Lowes having plywood but no two by fours or going the local grocery store and finding that there is no chicken because the truck from the supplier did not arrive?
Can you imagine being a manufacturer that assembles a product with components sourced from around the globe that all need to arrive at your plant within a small window of time to build your product for delivery to your customer? And then having to ship these finished goods to your customers worldwide?
Should the product travel by barge, ship, rail, airfreight, truck or some combination of these options? Do you have enough room for everything in you warehouse or should you store the product in bulk offsite and pull smaller shipments on a schedule. Are there environmental concerns to be considered in the warehouse such as the need for refrigeration or heat so the product does not freeze.
These are all issues that the Logistics Specialist address on a daily basis in order to make certain we all have the products we want when we want them.
