Title 1 Point of Contact
I hope you are enjoying a wonderful summer and all that comes with it. There are a few things I would like to make note of during this busy summer. We are currently getting ready for the 2016-17 school year with a fresh coat of paint in our hallways, cleaning for the arrival of your children, and wrapping up another successful CROP program. Our teachers have already been in to set up their rooms and continue to take professional development opportunities as they arise. The custodial staff has been staying one step ahead of the teachers and we are looking great. The office staff is handling all of the preparations to ensure that we hit the ground running in September.
We have a multitude of new things going on here at the Valley this year. New for 2016-17 is an emphasis on student attendance and a new attendance policy. We are bringing our attendance policy in line with what employees and college professors expect from their people. Charlotte Valley is a focus district so we will be continuing our push to provide the best instruction and results for your child. We continue to look at an acceptable building project that will be heavy on infrastructure and low on frills, but also allows us to prepare your child for the 21st century. All students will eat free this year under a new program we have aligned ourselves with. This is a savings of $480 per child for you. We continue to operate under the healthy schools grant which will have a positive impact on our student’s ability to learn. We have also committed to changing our reading and math curriculums to better align with the expectations of an ever changing society.
It has been busy, and we believe we are heading in a direction that will make CVCS a leader in education in the area and across the State. As always, stay in touch with our school if you have a question or concern. We will be rolling out a district wide Facebook page in early August.
Enjoy what is left of the summer and always wear sunscreen!!!
Read with your child every day and ask “What was the best part of your day?”
